Our Story
Your pet is your family.
We believe that dogs (and horses!) should be part of all the special moments and celebrations that make life meaningful and bring us closer together. What better way to bond than through your pet's favorite treat—freshly baked and lovingly hand-decorated to be fun for both of you! Hound & Horse Bakery started putting pet nutrition first. Our heart and soul goes into designing and baking these treats. Now available at the Lexington Farmer's Market, local shops, and by ordering online.

I started Hound & Horse Bakery out of my lifelong love of baking and animals. Some of my best childhood memories are “cookie baking days” with my mom, where we’d gather to make and decorate sugar cookies, and those moments inspired my passion for creating treats that bring joy.

During graduate school, I had a side job at Bluegrass Barkery in Lexington, where I discovered how much fun it is to bake cookies for dogs. That experience motivated me to start Hound & Horse Bakery and develop a special cookie recipe for horses. Having been around horses since I was young, I wanted to give horse owners the same joy dog owners feel when they treat their pets—whether it’s for a celebration or just because.

Originally from Michigan, I’ve called Lexington home since 2009. My horse, Ryman, absolutely loves Hound & Horse treats, and my two cats, Maude and Prudence, often “help” out in the kitchen (or at least they think they do!). The logo is especially meaningful to me because it features my two dogs: Rocky, my childhood Westie, and Red, my greyhound from my grad school days.

Hound & Horse Bakery is my way of sharing the joy I’ve always found in baking with others, whether it’s for your dog, your horse, or just celebrating the bond you share with your animals.
